Taking Time Out

When we are busy, it is difficult to even contemplate taking time out for ourselves yet it is in our down times that we tend to be most open, creative, and innovative.

What does time out look like?:

  1. A walk around the block
  2. Going to a quiet spot
  3. Deep breathing
  4. Meditating
  5. Being outdoors
  6. Gardening or something that makes us present


What does time out do for us:

  1. Creates a quiet space
  2. Clears distractions
  3. Allows us to breath, really breath
  4. Increases awareness
  5. Helps us to re-connect to ourselves and to our feelings
  6. Helps us to re-connect with what is important
  7. Helps us to get in touch with our inner wisdom
  8. Creates momentum for next steps


What can happen if we don’t take a time out?”

  1. Overwhelm
  2. Lower productivity
  3. Less perspective
  4. Less opportunity to connect with our wisdom
  5. Fatigue
  6. Less engagement
